Tamar is a giant deepwater gas field located offshore Israel. It was discovered in 2009 by Noble Energy (now Chevron). Successful appraisal confirmed recoverable volumes of 13 tcf of lean gas. The development was sanctioned in September 2010 and came onstream in March 2013.Initial production came from five wells, which are tied back via twin 149-kilometre subsea pipelines to a new platform located where gas is processed next to the Mari B platform on Yam Tethys.
