The Piper Area includes the Piper and the Tweedsmuir oil and gas fields, which lie in the outer Moray Firth of the Central North Sea. Giant Piper field, which is one of the largest in the North Sea, started production in 1976 using the Piper 'Alpha', single steel platform.
