Malacca Strait PSC consists of several coastal, primarily mature oil fields in Riau Province. Production started in 1984 from the Lalang oil field. In subsequent years, the Mengkapan, Melibur, Kurau, and the Selatan fields were brought onstream and production peaked at 58.5 kb/d in 1991. Energi Mega Persada (EMP) secured a 20-year licence extension in August 2020. Effective September 2020, EMP obtained full participating interest in the block, becoming the sole operator through its wholly owned subsidiary PT Imbang Tata Alam.
