Korea National Oil Corporation (KNOC) is the main shareholder in Altius Petroleum, which operates four oil fields in west Kazakhstan. Akzhar (post-salt) is by far the largest and remains the focus of development. Aggregate oil production has declined to less than 5,500 b/d, of which about 80% is currently from Akzhar in Aktobe region. The other three fields lie remote from Akzhar in an area closer to Atyrau. The deposits exploit shallow reservoirs and were discovered more than 50 years ago. ...
