Report summary
Al Rayyan is an offshore oil field located about 50 kilometres north of Qatar. It produces medium grade sour crude (25 °API) from Jurassic carbonates (Arab A & C units). The oil is processed at the Al Morjan offshore platform and then stored on a floating storage and offtake vessel (FSO) before it is exported via a single buoy mooring.The field was discovered by Wintershall in 1976, however the thin oil column was initially considered uneconomic.
