Akkas is a gas field located in Iraq's western desert in the Anbar province, 30 kilometres from the Syrian border. The field covers a large surface area of around 360 km2 but with only around 20 metres of net gas pay. Several appraisal wells were drilled between 2002 and 2003 testing gas and condensate.
