Report summary
The Haynesville and Bossier are deep, high-temperature, and over-pressured dry gas formations in northwest Louisiana and east Texas. Well, costs tend to be higher than other Lower 48 gas plays due to sub-surface conditions and depths of up to 15,000 feet. Haynesville activity peaked in 2011 at over 1,000 wells but slowed due to a low gas price. Activity began to rebound in 2017, driven by private equity-backed operators. With the return to low gas prices in 2023, D&C decreased. Longer laterals and enhanced completions have re-defined play economics.
