Report summary
Exploration activity has been muted in the past decade due to poor success rates and a harsh fiscal environment. Large oil fields were discovered in the 70s and 80s but these were replaced with marginal gas finds in the 90s. Explorers have focused their attention on gas prospects in more recent years, with success coming in 2017 with the discovery of the 375 bcf Mako gas field. Positive full-cycle economics are available under all price scenarios.
