Tayahua is a typical hydrothermal deposit consisting of “two orebodies”: a big manto copper skarn surrounded by the lead-zinc replacement mineralisation hosted in veins and chimneys. The deposit is mined through various underground mining methods. Ore is processed through a 4ktpd mill and a 1.5ktpd mill and sent to two flotation circuit to produce a zinc/lead and a copper/zinc concentrate. All concentrates are sent either to Metmex in Torreon, 380km away, or shipped through the Manzanillo port, located 509 km away. In 2018 production of copper in concentrate increased by roughly 50% compared to 2017 due to the 'Cobre Primario' expansion project.
