Report summary
The Piauí Nickel Project (PNP) is a nickel laterite heap leaching project owned by Brazilian Nickel Ltd. The open-pit operation aims to extract 3Mtpa of ore, employing dynamic heap leaching to produce nickel hydroxide precipitate. The project's phased development includes a demonstration plant, followed by production ramp-ups to 10,000 t/a and 22,800 t/a. With a US$450 million capital expenditure, PNP benefits from existing infrastructure and an arid climate. Construction is slated to begin in late 2026, with first production targeted for 2029, subject to financing.
