Ijmuiden is favourably located on the coast of Holland, with its own port facilities. The BOF plant is part of Tata Steel Europe and produces hot rolled, cold rolled and metallic-coated strip. In early 2023, Tata Steel began relining Blast furnace no. 6 as part of its modernisation plan. The furnace was restarted in February 2024 and is expected to improve utilisation levels in 2024. The furnace will be permanently decommissioned in the late 2030s as part of Tata’s plan to produce steel without the use of coal or coke.
