Hengbang (Humon) copper smelter is located in Yantai, Shandong Province in East China. It was originally a gold smelter. Hengbang constructed a bottom-blown furnace to process copper-gold concentrate. The BBF was commissioned in 2010. The smelting capacity of the BBF was 80 kt/a upon commissioning and it was expanded to 150 kt/a through some debottlenecking projects. In 2018, a new 100 kt/a side-blown furnace was commissioned. However, the side-blown furnace was mainly processing copper concentrate and internal residues from the lead and gold systems, and some Hazard Wastes. Therefore, the accompanying analysis includes only the bottom blown systems, which processes primary copper concentrates.
