Report summary
Hamersley Mines is Rio Tinto's largest iron ore complex and produces approximately 150 Mtpa. It includes the deposits of Paraburdoo, Mt Tom Price, Marandoo, Brockman, Nammuldi, Silvergrass, Western Turner Syncline and from 2025 Western Range. Output from the various Hamersley Mines deposits is mostly blended into Rio Tinto's Pilbara Blend product. Rio Tinto's Hamersley Mines is among the lowest cost suppliers of iron ore to the seaborne market owing to economies of scale because of its huge production volumes, minimal processing requirements for its direct shpping ore, and wholly owned rail infrastructure.
