Report summary
Two orebodies make up the proven and probable reserve. Prior to start-up the Sunbeam ore-body reserve was stated as 6.5Mst grading 0.053oz/st Au and 0.4oz/st Ag. In 1995 significant shortfalls in tonnage and grade of ore were encountered during mining because ore zones were less continuous and thinner than envisaged. As a result some 8Mt of ore were removed from the ore reserve, and Hecla wrote-down the carrying value of its 80% interest in the property by $97M.
