Report summary
The Avebury nickel mine, discovered in 1997 in Tasmania has experienced a turbulent operational history since its initial closure in 2009. Operations briefly resumed in May 2022 under Mallee Resources Limited's ownership, but this revival proved short-lived as weakening nickel prices forced the mine back into care and maintenance in February 2024, just 18 months after restart and following Mallee's entry into receivership in September 2023.
