Mauro brings over fifteen years of experience in energy markets, and he is a recognized specialist in the natural gas and LNG industry. He is part of the Americas consulting team and leads the practice for gas and LNG in Latin America. In his current role, Mauro helps clients in transactions of gas and LNG infrastructure, LNG to power projects, small-scale LNG and bunkering, and gas monetization strategies.

Previously, Mauro headed the South American gas markets research team based in Rio, leading the analysis of Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Bolivia, and Chile gas and power markets, regulatory reforms, and prices.

Mauro also headed the European gas market research during the European energy crisis based in London, being responsible for short and long-term outlooks for European balances and TTF prices. He supported projects for European gas price differentials, pipeline expansions and identification of price arbitrage opportunities, competitiveness assessment for long-term capacity booking in Northwest Europe LNG terminals, and gas pipeline expansions.

Prior to joining Wood Mackenzie, Mauro spent time as a visiting researcher at the Imperial College London, the Center for Environmental and Sustainability Research in Portugal and the Center on Energy and Environmental Economics in Brazil. He also worked in the Ministry of Mines and Energy and National Environmental Fund in Peru.

He has many publications in scientific international journals on energy and environmental topics and is a reviewer of the Energy Policy Journal, Energy (Oxford) and Energy Strategy Reviews.
